VIN

Identification number of the car can be found in a special observation port at the left under a windscreen, besides, number is beaten out on the right longitudinal beam of a frame of the car, and also mentioned on the factory plate (see below).

In identification number of the car the following information is ciphered:

1 and 19 — Badges with the Mersedes-Benz trademark image (star), - designate the beginning and VIN end (presence is unessential)

2-4 — the International code of the company manufacturer

5-10 — Serial number of model (163.113: ML 270 of CDI, 163.128: ML 400 of CDI, 163.136: ML 230, 163.154: ML 320, 163.157: ML 350, 163.172: ML 430, 163.174: ML 55 AMG, 163.175: ML 500)

11 — the Steering

12 — a manufacturer Code (A-E: Sindelfingen, F-H: Bremen, J: Rastatt, T: Karmann (Osnabrueck), X: Graz)

13-18 — Factory number

Factory plate

Location of the factory plate is shown on an illustration. In the plate permissible weight load is specified the VIN car, and also, - more detailed information can be received in representation offices of the Mercedes-Benz company.

Number of the power unit

On models ML 320, 400 CDI, 500 and 55 AMG number of the engine is in right back (in the movement direction) parts of the power unit, on models 270 CDI, - in left back.
